The Online Virus Scanner

In recent articles i’ve talked about running 2 or more anti-virus scanners is very bad for any system.
I often explain how it does more harm then good.

Think about it, if you have 2 anti viruses Norton and McAffee running. Each time you get, modify, or delete the file every anti-virus has to scan them. Sometimes they conflict which may cause computer slowness. This is on top of any existing programs running.

How to choose the right virus protection!

When you buying a computer or laptop you should remember these few tricks:
1. Pick 1 or more spyware removers, ie SPYBOT.
- I recommend the following: Spybot & Adware SE they both can be found in the downloads page of this site.
They are very easy to use and install and the best part is that it is free!

2. Pick only 1 anti-virus and stick with it, If it turns out you want to switch anti-viruses remember to remove the current anti virus before installing the new one. There are a few free ones out there. Although you have to becareful. In the downloads page of this site i listed a few good ones.

Note: If you come across Win-Anti Virus Pro 2004 or the current year of the software.

In my experience Win-Anti Virus Pro is Known Spyware in my book… It is JUNK, best to remove!!

$sys$DRMServer.exe Removal

If you see $sys$DRMServer.exe in your process page. Then you have the Sony Root Kit Installed. Here is the following thing i’ve done to remove such a kit.
1. Find the location where the root kit is installed.
C:WindowsSystem32$sys$filesystem$sys$DRMServer.exe

2. In Safe mode delete this dir.
C:WindowsSystem32$sys$filesystem

3. Open the registry (regedit)
Del the following location keys. Note when modifying the registry you could make the system not to boot. i recommend that you read up on the windows registry, or have some one help you.

HIT Key Local Machine and Hit Key Local User there should be a software folder. Go in both and check for $sys$ and del.
