Improve Vista Performance by Turning Off Areo

In my last article I explained how to stop vistas disk thrashing and how it may speed up your computer. This article will explain how to turn off windows areo.

Turning off areo, First what is areo? You can find a complete defination at microsoft.com.

Open a run prompt or command prompt and type.
This Turns Areo On: Rundll32 dwmApi #102
This Turns Areo Off: Rundll32 dwmApi #104

the second way to disable areo in vista is to:
Go to Control Panel Appearance - Personalization lastly click on Windows Color and Appearance as shown below:

Once you get there you should see a dialog box that looks like this:

Just choose Windows Vista Basic or Windows Standard then press ok to save the settings.
